Service Awards

Dolores Huerta Award in Community Engagement Development

 

Awarded for involvement in a project of a student’s own initiative with potential for future involvement within the department.

Requirements:  Spanish major, students must complete 100 hours of community engagement activity, and work with a faculty member on developing an on-going future relationship with their community partner. 

Students will receive recognition at the Spring awards ceremony along with their faculty mentor, a certificate, and a small cash award. 

Excellentia in Civitatem:

 

Awarded to all students who complete at least 40 hours of community engagement activity. 

Requirements:  Spanish major, students must submit a letter of interest to the department with a list of their activities and the department will confirm the hours of activity via the MSU Civic Life App and the CCEL. 

Students will receive a certificate of achievement and recognition at the Spring Awards Ceremony.

Department Award: Sacrificium Dedicationis

 

Awarded to the student with the most total hours of service recorded with the CCEL and the MSU Civic Life App within the department. 

Requirements: Spanish major. Students must submit a letter of interest to the department with a list of their activities and the department will confirm the hours of activity.

The winner will receive a certificate of achievement, recognition at the Spring Awards Ceremony, and a small cash award.

Discipline/Section Award: Non Sibi Sed Aliis: Awarded to one student from each discipline who applies course content from a specific class/collection of classes and submits a reflection on the application of that course content toward community engagement activities. Students must complete at least 20 hours of community engagement.

Requirements: Spanish major or minor. Students will need to contact the professor of the course(s) whose content inspired/enabled the engagement activities and submit their reflection on these activities to the department for consideration. 

Winners will receive a certificate of achievement as well as recognition at the Spring Awards Ceremony
